About Me

It isn’t easy reaching out and asking for help and you are here. That shows strength. If you choose to work together with me, we will find your strength and make you stronger.

I pride myself on being human both inside and outside of my office

In the first sessions, we will speak honestly about your goals. Perhaps scrapping some that aren’t really yours and uncovering others that are. My goal is for you to move forward, and to do that we have to know where you want to go.

We then look at what is getting in the way of reaching yours goals. Usually, this it’s a mixed bag of practical and emotional considerations. We start to sort it out.

Here is when you feel traction, that you can move forward, making change towards your goals.

What does the process look like?

Reach out and lets set up a consultation call. We can figure out if we are a good match, and if we are, we’ll schedule something.

As I said above, the first couple of sessions we will figure out your goals and the obstacles to reaching them.

Then we start climbing the ladder. I like to say that one rung is practical, the next emotional, the next practical, and the next emotional…you get the picture. The process is a mix of going deeper and taking steps forward.

My view is that therapy never ends. That doesn’t mean you are with me forever, the opposite actually. If you get to a place where you feel good, then great go on your way. And if you need to come back in a year, so you’ll come back.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

I primarily work using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). It is an evidenced based treatment that has been found to be effective across the diagnostic spectrum.

More importantly, I firmly believe that therapists who use a modality that fits their own personality are effective and helping their clients. And my goal is to help you.

Wondering whether now is the right time for therapy?

If you are feeling like you are stuck and spinning your wheels, then yes now is the right time.

How I got started in therapy…

Honestly, I majored in finance in college. I then spent a lot of years as a rabbinic fellow studying and teaching Judaism, and when it was time to move on, finance didn’t speak to me anymore. My wife and my mentor both independently suggested social work, as they felt I had a good listening ear and understanding of human nature.

I was hesitant, but figured that these two people know me the best out of everyone in the world, so maybe they are onto something. They were right. Once I took the leap, I never looked back.
